This September, a team of 25 enthusiastic Rolleston Road Runners (including kids, adults, and a few keen families) will be swapping the Selwyn Sports Centre for sandy shores as they head to Rarotonga for the iconic 48th Round Rarotonga Road Race.
The event is a week-long celebration of running, fitness, and fun, featuring everything from casual fun runs to the main event: a 31km race around the island. Some of the group will be tackling the full loop, others the individual 10km, and a few will team up for the 3-person 10km relay. No matter the race, they’ve all got one goal in mind, to enjoy every step of the journey and share the experience with an amazing group of people.
While a few are aiming for personal bests (shoutout to Gary, who placed 7th last year!), for many it’s all about finishing strong and having a great time doing it. Leading up to the big event, they’re training at their regular Thursday night sessions at the Selwyn Sports Centre, Sunday morning long runs, and the Saturday Foster parkrun.
